About the Role
This position serves as a vital link in the freight logistics chain, responsible for transporting cargo across the dock area to and from trailers. The role ensures that freight is loaded, secured, and documented accurately to maintain the integrity of the supply line.
You will operate in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment where you must verify that documentation matches the physical freight, including details on type, weight, and hazardous materials. Your day involves using motorized and manual equipment like forklifts and pallet jacks to handle freight, as well as securing loads with straps and ropes. You may also assist customers with freight inquiries and perform hostling duties if required.
The role demands physical stamina in a dock environment exposed to varied weather, exhaust, fumes, and noise. You will frequently lift and carry varying weights, open heavy trailer doors, and perform tasks requiring bending, twisting, and squatting. While the work often requires independent focus, you will also collaborate closely with service center personnel and team members to meet operational needs.
Hiring Process
Applicants must be at least 18 years old. While a high school diploma and prior experience in warehousing or forklift operations are preferred, the primary focus is on the ability to perform the essential physical and operational functions of the job.
