Foundry Worker - Pitman

We are seeking a skilled and reliable Pitman to join our team. This role is designed for individuals who thrive in a fast-paced environment and are eager to contribute to the operational success of our organization.

Day in the Life

As a Pitman, your primary function involves the critical tasks of pouring molten metal, spraying, shaking, and setting up molds. You will work closely with the Foreman to ensure operational needs are met efficiently.

Your day will involve operating overhead cranes and hoists to lift and position molds, often requiring the use of bilateral upper extremities and a moderate amount of force. You will be responsible for spraying molds, setting them up, and applying chains before they are placed in the pit by a crane operator. The pouring process demands significant physical effort, particularly when handling a 28-ton ladle.

Throughout the shift, you will also manage mold cleaning and maintenance, ensuring the work area remains free of debris and safety hazards. While shoveling is part of the role, it is typically sustained for short intervals of 15 to 20 minutes. The position may require you to squat, stoop, or kneel to access molds effectively.
