The Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) is the state's social services agency, dedicated to protecting the vulnerable and promoting strong, economically self-sufficient families. Within DCF, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health (SAMH) Program serves as the single state authority for planning and implementing a comprehensive statewide system of care for children and adults with serious mental illnesses or substance use disorders.
This position serves as a Food Support Worker at the Northeast Florida State Hospital (NEFSH), a 613-bed, licensed mental health treatment facility in Macclenny established in 1959. As the largest state-operated civil treatment facility, NEFSH provides person-centered services to adults suffering from severe and persistent mental illness.
In this highly responsible role, you will act as a Cook within the Dietary Department, collaborating with various sections of the state facility. The position requires independent judgment, initiative, and an extraordinary attention to detail. You will be responsible for estimating food requirements, preparing and cooking hot and cold food items according to approved recipes, and ensuring optimum customer satisfaction. Your day will involve operating specialized kitchen equipment, managing meat preparation, maintaining sanitary working conditions, and assisting with logistics such as unloading deliveries and transporting food carts to wards.
