About the Team
Avera McKennan Hospital is part of a multidisciplinary team built with compassion, dedicated to "Moving Health Forward" for patients and the community. The Careflight program operates across three bases in Sioux Falls, Aberdeen, and Pierre, South Dakota, providing critical emergency medical services under the direction of Emergency Department Physicians.
About the Role
This position serves as a float Careflight Paramedic or Flight RN, delivering high-quality patient care during transport. You will be an integral part of a team that prioritizes compassion, hospitality, and stewardship. The role involves collecting patient health data, analyzing information to determine diagnoses, and developing individualized plans of care for interventions during transport.
You will work in a dynamic environment where you collaborate with patients, families, and healthcare providers to ensure safety and effectiveness. The position requires maintaining current knowledge in practice and procedures while adhering to professional standards and relevant statutes. All personnel are expected to uphold Avera's CARE standards (Communication, Attitude, Responsiveness, and Engagement) and maintain physical health requirements to perform duties safely.
Schedule and Location
You will work rotating 12-hour shifts (7:00 am–7:30 pm and 7:00 pm–7:30 am) across the three bases. The schedule rotates every other weekend and holiday, with preferences considered. You will receive your schedule six weeks in advance. This is a regular position with a rotating shift pattern covering days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
