Howard University Public Charter Middle School of Mathematics and Science (HU-MS²) is a mission-driven, STEM-focused institution dedicated to the success of 6th through 8th-grade scholars. Our environment is built on advancing equity, fostering a positive school culture, and supporting the whole child. We believe that health and safety are foundational to academic readiness, and we strive to create an inclusive community where every student can thrive.
The School Nurse is a vital partner in our mission to promote the health, safety, and readiness to learn of our scholars. In this role, you will go beyond clinical duties to become a key advocate for student wellness. You will work directly with students to manage chronic conditions, administer medications, and provide immediate care for emergencies. Your work ensures that health barriers do not impede learning, allowing scholars to focus on their academic and personal growth.
Day-to-day, you will maintain accurate health records, coordinate with families and community providers, and collaborate closely with educators and counselors. You will also play an active role in health education, preventive wellness programming, and school safety planning. By bridging the gap between medical needs and the school environment, you help cultivate a supportive, healthy, and inclusive climate for our entire school community.
Interested candidates are invited to submit their application materials. The selection process includes a review of qualifications, followed by interviews with the school leadership team to assess fit with our mission and culture.
