The Fire Protection Estimator plays a pivotal role in our pre-construction phase, responsible for providing complete and accurate estimates for assigned projects. This position serves as the bridge between project planning and execution, ensuring that bids are competitive, compliant, and grounded in precise technical analysis.
In this role, you will dive deep into construction documents, including instructions to bidders, scope of work, and general conditions. A key part of your day involves laying out fire protection systems to create accurate bid takeoffs and soliciting quotations from subcontractors and vendors to ensure full coverage. You will collaborate closely with in-house trades—such as Sprinkler, Sheet Metal, and Electrical—to coordinate scope of work and assist in developing robust bid strategies.
Your responsibilities extend to the negotiation phase, where you will review subcontractor quotations for compliance with plans and specifications, assist in negotiating subcontracts, and procure necessary materials and equipment. Once the estimate is finalized, you will enter it into the job cost control program and participate in turnover meetings with the operations team to ensure a smooth transition from bidding to construction. Success in this role requires a self-starter who can meet critical deadlines, multi-task effectively, and solve problems with minimal supervision.
