The Fire Alarm & Security Technician is a critical frontline role dedicated to ensuring the safety of lives and property. You will serve as the primary expert for installing, troubleshooting, servicing, and repairing fire alarm, security, and life safety systems. Operating with minimal supervision, you act as the technical face of the company, bridging the gap between complex safety standards and real-world application.
This position is designed for a hands-on professional who thrives in a dynamic environment. Your day-to-day involves diagnosing ground faults, replacing critical components like FACP units and alarm-initiating devices, and managing high-pressure suppression systems. You will frequently interact with internal teams, external customers, and offsite monitoring companies, requiring a high degree of professionalism and clear communication. As a key member of the team, you will also mentor trainees, ensuring the next generation of technicians is well-versed in fire protection protocols.
This role is highly mobile, requiring travel up to 90% of the time within local areas. You will work in diverse settings, ranging from outdoor sites exposed to varying weather conditions and industrial hazards to indoor office environments. Safety is paramount; you must consistently wear appropriate personal protective equipment and adhere strictly to the company's safety programs, including handling explosive actuators and hazardous materials.
The position includes an on-call status to handle emergency service requests as required by your location. You will utilize specialized tools and software, such as Field Service Lightning, to track work orders and manage documentation. Staying current with the latest technology, codes, and standards is a continuous part of the job, often requiring attendance at seminars and training sessions.
