This position serves as a vital bridge between patients and the hospital's financial services, ensuring that self-pay portions of patient accounts are managed with both efficiency and empathy. The primary mission is to assist patients in establishing financial arrangements, thereby protecting the hospital's financial standing while minimizing uncompensated care. You will be the first point of contact for many patients regarding their financial responsibilities, requiring a balance of administrative precision and compassionate communication.
In this role, you will process financial responsibility estimates, collect payments, and conduct assessments to determine a patient's ability to pay. A significant portion of your day involves screening patients for financial assistance eligibility and facilitating applications for those who qualify. You will also manage referrals to eligibility contractors and maintain detailed documentation of all interactions within the patient accounting system. The role demands a caring and courteous attitude toward patients, families, and hospital staff, ensuring a positive atmosphere even when discussing sensitive financial matters.
Candidates selected for this position will be subject to callback and overtime as required by hospital operations. The role is based in Jackson, Tennessee, and operates on an 8-day shift schedule.
