One team. Global challenges. Infinite opportunities. At Viasat, we're on a mission to deliver connections with the capacity to change the world. For more than 35 years, Viasat has helped shape how consumers, businesses, governments, and militaries around the globe communicate. We're looking for people who think big, act fearlessly, and create an inclusive environment that drives positive impact to join our team.
The Narrowband Field Applications Engineer within Viasat Government serves as a critical bridge between engineering, production, and our customers. You will provide comprehensive support for US and foreign government systems, including hubs, remote terminals, and Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) equipment. This role is designed for those who thrive in a dynamic environment, offering a mixture of remote and onsite support to ensure the seamless operation of critical UHF DAMA and IW Networks.
Your day-to-day impact involves leading installation and deployment efforts, conducting rigorous testing, and managing operations and maintenance. You will collaborate closely with both internal teams and external customers to resolve complex issues related to electrical systems, IP networking, and configuration management. A key part of your mission is ensuring technical excellence through the development of user documentation and the delivery of technical training. As a Field Applications Engineer, you will be expected to travel extensively (up to 75%) both within the US (CONUS) and overseas (OCONUS) to provide onsite support where it is needed most.
This is a US government position requiring US Citizenship. Candidates must possess an active DoD Secret Clearance or be able to obtain one when administratively feasible (interim clearance must be granted prior to the start date). The role is based out of Carlsbad, CA, and requires the ability to work an on-call rotation.
