This position is dedicated to providing maximum operating efficiency for Singing River Electric and Singing River Connect by executing broadband service installs. You will be responsible for terminating, splicing, documenting, and testing fiber optic cables to ensure seamless connectivity for our community.
Your day-to-day involves conducting residential and commercial fiber installations, including in-home wiring and equipment setup. You will program subscriber premise equipment, such as wireless networks and the SR Connect app, while educating subscribers on our products and services. The role requires you to test, activate, and troubleshoot equipment after installation, analyzing technical issues like no light levels at ONTs, Wi-Fi signal problems, or latency issues.
You will work closely with the Fiber Services Department to maintain an efficient home installation schedule and coordinate fiber activities with electric linemen and other aerial communications linemen. As a key part of the team, you will respond to installs, disconnects, reconnects, and changes in a timely manner and may be subject to a 24-hour call-out schedule.
Eligible applicants must currently live within the service area of the assigned district office or be willing to relocate within a 45-minute commute from the assigned district office. Preference will be given to applicants located closer to our Gautier District office for this specific posting.

Two years' prior experience with fiber optics; 2+ years of experience in outside plant fiber splicing, customer premise equipment installation, network access equipment installation, and network troubleshooting; location closer to the Gautier District office; CFOS/T (Certified Fiber Optic Specialist / Testing) certification; ETA/FOT (Electronics Technician Association, Fiber Optics Technician) certification; ETA/FOI (Electronics Technician Association, Fiber Optics Installer) certification; INSTF (BICSI Installer 2, Optical Fiber) certification.
