Sierra Donor Services (SDS) is the designated organ procurement organization for the state of New Mexico and a proud member of the DCI Donor Services family. For over four decades, DCI has been a leader in working to end the transplant waiting list. Our unique approach allows for nationwide donation, transplantation, and distribution of organs and tissues while maintaining close ties to our local communities.
We operate organ procurement and tissue recovery organizations across California, New Mexico, and Tennessee, including the DCI Donor Services Tissue Bank and Sierra Donor Services Eye Bank. Key Responsibilities
- check_circleCollaborate with hospital staff to provide accurate information regarding patient clinical course
- check_circleDetermine family dynamics and assess understanding of patient prognosis to initiate donation discussions
- check_circleObtain legal authorization for donation and verify necessary medical and legal documentation
- check_circleRespond independently or with staff to hospital referrals within designated timeframes
- check_circleInitiate donation discussions and authorization processes for potential organ and tissue donor families
- check_circleVisually assess donors, interpret medical charts, document findings, and communicate results
- check_circleCommunicate with physicians and healthcare teams to establish rapport and ensure collaborative approaches
- check_circleProvide education to hospital staff regarding authorization, family care, and donation processes
Requirements

- verified2–4 years healthcare experience with families, counseling, bereavement, or crisis intervention
