For over four decades, DCI has been a leader in working to end the transplant waiting list. Our unique approach to service allows for nationwide donation, transplantation, and distribution of organs and tissues while maintaining close ties to our local communities.
DCI operates organ procurement and tissue recovery organizations, including Sierra Donor Services and Tennessee Donor Services, with operations in California, New Mexico, and Tennessee. We also maximize the gift of life through the DCI Donor Services Tissue Bank and Sierra Donor Services Eye Bank. Our performance is measured by the way we serve donor families and recipients; to be successful in this endeavor is our ultimate mission.
We are committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion. With the help of our employee-led strategy team, we ensure that all communities feel welcome and safe with us because we are a model for fairness, belonging, and forward thinking.
We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic Family Care Coordinator to join our team in the Nashville area and throughout Tennessee hospitals. This role is vital to our mission of saving lives through organ and tissue donation.
Family Care Coordinators serve as advocates for donation and resources for donor families. You will support and educate the potential donor's next-of-kin regarding donation options, determining family dynamics and assessing the family's understanding of the patient's prognosis. Working alongside clinical team members and hospital staff, you will initiate donation discussions and the authorization process prior to, during, and after death declaration. Your work requires strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written formats, particularly in difficult situations similar to counseling or patient relations.
This position operates primarily in hospital settings and involves a schedule of 15 days per month, with on-call periods of up to 24 hours. You will be responsible for responding independently to hospital referrals, collaborating with attending physicians to establish rapport, and providing education to hospital staff regarding the authorization and family care process.
Upon successful submission of your application, you will receive a confirmation email. The next step in the selection process is to complete a video screening. Instructions to complete this screening will be contained in the confirmation email. Please note that you must complete the video screening within 5 days from the submission of your application to be considered for the position.
