The Facilities Services Assistant Supervisor (HVAC Zone D) plays a pivotal role in ensuring the operational integrity of the Tempe campus. You will assist in planning and coordinating staffing for all general maintenance functions, specifically focusing on HVAC systems. This position serves as a liaison between the facilities team, other campus departments, and outside contractors, ensuring that all work meets established standards and safety requirements.
In this role, you will monitor and assign HVAC work orders using computerized management systems, inspecting work to ensure deficiencies are corrected. You will help develop HVAC work standards, maintenance schedules, and strategic planning initiatives. The role requires interpreting blueprints and technical manuals, as well as monitoring outside contract work to ensure compliance with ASU standards. You will also facilitate training for subordinates on general maintenance functions and participate in performance evaluations.
The work environment is dynamic, performed both inside and outside across the university campus in all types of weather. You will work in mechanical rooms with loud equipment, utilize specific hand tools, and may need to work off ladders or scaffolding. The position requires the ability to quickly change priorities and may involve a rotating on-call/stand-by schedule for emergency responses, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

One (1) year supervisory experience in HVAC trade services. Experience in HVAC, maintenance and repair in a commercial, industrial, or educational environment. Experience ordering building materials. Experience in HVAC maintenance of higher educational facilities (Classrooms, laboratories, student life, etc.). Experience working with Building Automation Controls, installation and troubleshooting. Experience working with pneumatic controls, calibration and troubleshooting. Experience using work order systems (e.g. WebTMA). Experience in Facilities HVAC project management (i.e. dealing with outside vendors/contractors). Experience interpreting and applying blueprints, specifications and/or technical manuals. Customer service experience. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook). Knowledge of state, local and federal building codes. Knowledge of general maintenance principles, practices and techniques. Ability to stimulate changes in individual, institutional, and corporate behaviors to create a more sustainable environment. Ability to lead by example in communicating, participating and encouraging support of the institution's sustainability programs.
