The Facilities and Plant Operations (FPO) Team supports BAE Systems Space and Mission Systems (SMS) across 36 properties in Colorado, managing over 2 million square feet of real estate. This established group of over 90 professionals is dedicated to service, continuous improvement, and maintaining facilities that enable world-class engineers and technicians to create a safer, more informed, and productive world.
Within FPO, the Strategic Space and Utilization team drives strategic space and equipment planning, capital management, and design operations. The Operations Strategic Capabilities Unit plays a fundamental role in enabling efficient business execution, from strategic capital investments and industrial operations to state-of-the-art manufacturing and top-notch facilities management.
As a Facilities Planning Specialist II, you will join the Planning & Interiors Design team to support one of our largest business units. You will partner with a Senior Planner to collaborate with employees at all levels on facility planning, space management, workspace configurations, and moves. Your work will validate and develop detailed design layouts, project scopes, and schedules, ensuring that our dynamic workforce has environments that support growth and innovation.
In this role, you will manage vendors for office space design, furniture installation, and employee or equipment moves while coordinating project costs with Facilities partners. You will create innovative design solutions that maximize space and introduce flexible working environments, utilizing modular systems and free-standing furniture to meet functional needs and budget goals. From day-to-day Move/Add/Change (MAC) requests to large-scale retrofit or new construction projects, you will oversee design needs, prepare CAD drawings, and create 3-D renderings for review.
You will also partner with Engineering and Industrial Operations teams to design seating for lab and manufacturing environments, including ESD bench seating and storage options. By maintaining current knowledge of Facilities Management trends and ergonomic best practices, you will translate changes in work environment design into dynamic spaces for BAE Systems SMS employees.
This position will be posted for at least 5 calendar days and will remain active until filled or a qualified pool is identified. Multiple positions may be available under this opening. Applicants must be willing and eligible for security clearance submission after an offer is accepted, depending on program requirements, though a clearance is not required to apply.
This role requires regular in-person engagement, working on-site three or more days each week in the primary location. The work environment includes offices, laboratories, cleanrooms, and production floors. Travel between company campuses and other locations may be required to support projects.
