About the Mission

Since our founding in 1924, we have cut cardiovascular disease deaths in half, but there is still so much more to do. To overcome today's biggest health challenges and accelerate this progress, we need passionate individuals to join our movement. Our 2028 Goal is to drive breakthroughs and implement proven solutions in science, policy, and care for healthier people and communities. The greatest discoveries in health must reach everyone where they are.

At the American Heart Association, our mission is to be a relentless force for a world of longer, healthier lives, regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, religion, age, language, sexual orientation, national origin, and physical or cognitive abilities.

About the Role

As the Executive Director for Baltimore, you will serve as the strategic and operational leader for the market, responsible for driving its overall vision, performance, and long-term growth. Reporting to the Senior Vice President, you will oversee a team of approximately seven staff members and cultivate involvement from top-level corporate executives as leadership volunteers, strategic partners, and board members.

This role is pivotal in strengthening and expanding fundraising capacity, with a focus on sustained, scalable growth in both unrestricted and restricted field-campaign revenue. You will develop and execute the Baltimore strategic plan, ensuring alignment with the organization's broader goals while building powerful partnerships with community leaders, sponsors, and stakeholders. Success requires fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and collaboration, empowering high-performing teams to achieve aggressive growth targets.

As a key member of the Eastern States Team, you will ensure objectives are fully integrated with regional strategies. This hybrid position is based in the Baltimore metro area, with work conducted wherever it is most effective—in the field, at home, and in collaboration meetings. Daily local travel within the market is required.

Our Culture

#TheAHALife is more than a company culture; it is our way of life. It embodies our commitment to work-life harmonization and is guided by core values where employees can thrive both personally and professionally. We are dedicated to ensuring you are Seen, Heard, and Valued. To support your success, you will have access to Heart U, our award-winning corporate university, along with additional training and local support resources.
