About The Role
Within the Community Integration Services (CIS) Department, the Veteran Employment Services (VES) program is dedicated to supporting veterans seeking employment. The Career Development Specialist serves as a vital bridge between unemployed and underemployed veterans and the workforce. This role goes beyond simple placement; it involves comprehensive case management, outreach, and advocacy to ensure veterans not only find jobs but maintain them.
You will work closely with an interdisciplinary team—including housing specialists, mental health clinicians, and social workers—to develop Individual Employment Plans (IEPs) tailored to each client's unique background and goals. Your day will involve conducting assessments, coaching clients on job search strategies, resume building, and interview skills, and actively engaging with public and private sector partners to secure opportunities. Whether working with homeless veterans or those facing high barriers to employment, your focus remains on strengthening job readiness and driving successful placements.

Key Responsibilities

- check_circleProvide follow-up and support to veterans after placement to ensure employment maintenance
- check_circleTrack all veterans enrolled with a timeline from enrollment to placements
- check_circleMonitor community presentations, job fairs, stand downs, and workshops to determine event productivity
- check_circleEnter data in program systems accurately and timely and complete case management documentation
- check_circleSubmit monthly success stories and provide analysis of missing benchmarks to the Program Manager
- check_circleCoach clients in job search, applications, resume writing, interviewing, and follow-up skills
- check_circleMatch job-ready clients with job openings and serve as a recruiting specialist to employers
- check_circlePartner with clients to develop Individual Employment Plans based on one-on-one assessments
