About the Team

MaineHealth is a not-for-profit integrated health system dedicated to the vision of making communities the healthiest in America. Our Neurology Department is a well-established group of 35+ sub-specialty trained adult and pediatric neurologists, supported by a robust clinical and administrative team including neurohospitalists, an onsite pharmacist, behavioral health counselor, social worker, and neuropsychologists. We are currently developing a Level IV comprehensive epilepsy program, building upon our existing Level III Epilepsy Center which treats over 4,000 patients annually.

The Medical Director of the Intracranial Epilepsy Monitoring Program will lead a collaborative team of five epileptologists, dedicated nurse practitioners, nurses, a nurse navigator, and fellowship-trained epilepsy/functional neurosurgeons. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the growth of our monitoring program while working alongside neuroradiologists, nuclear medicine specialists, and psychometricians in a fully accredited inpatient and outpatient neurodiagnostics environment featuring a 3T MRI and five EMU beds.

About the Role

As the Medical Director of the Intracranial Epilepsy Monitoring Program, you will balance direct patient care with the strategic development of our intracranial monitoring capabilities. Based at the MaineHealth Scarborough Campus, with access to the nearby EMU at Maine Medical Center in Portland, you will oversee a program that serves a diverse patient population across adult and pediatric specialties.

This position is designed for a board-certified or board-eligible Neurologist with a two-year surgical epilepsy fellowship. The role includes opportunities for academic advancement through an affiliation with Tufts Medical School, allowing for teaching MaineHealth Neurology residents, fellows from other departments, and medical students. Committed time for research is supported through the MaineHealth Institute for Research, and you will have the flexibility to pursue an academic pathway.
