This position is designed for an engineer with significant experience in the environmental and solid waste industry. You will serve as a key leader in engineering and construction at solid waste disposal facilities, directly responsible for advancing Waste Management's status as the industry's leader and innovator. The role requires superior problem-solving and management skills to handle a diverse portfolio of technical projects.
In this capacity, you will act as a bridge between regulatory agencies, operating sites, and senior management. You will represent WM as a community liaison at technical conferences and forums, ensuring clear communication on technical and permitting matters. Your day-to-day involves directing and mentoring junior staff, managing professional consulting firms, and overseeing landfill construction projects from the preparation of plans to final approval.
You will also play a strategic role in managing key assets by coordinating landfill capacity tracking, developing airspace calculations, and creating efficient fill sequencing plans. Additionally, you will collaborate with subject matter experts to provide innovative, cost-effective engineering solutions for operational and compliance issues across landfills, transfer stations, and hauling operations. The role may also involve participating in the review of acquisitions and divestitures, providing technical expertise during due diligence.
