As an Engineer I, you will serve as a critical link between long-term strategic plans and daily operational execution within our mine reclamation projects. Reporting to an Engineer III, your primary mission is to transform high-level objectives into actionable, safe, and efficient operation plans. You will collaborate closely with Operations and Maintenance teams to resolve equipment constraints, ensuring we meet strict project deadlines while maintaining the highest standards of safety and environmental compliance.
This role offers a dynamic blend of office-based planning and active field engagement. You will be responsible for developing detailed daily, weekly, and monthly schedules—including dig, drill and blast, and haulage plans—that align with the overall reclamation contract. Your day-to-day involves preparing short-term plans for equipment operators, monitoring productivity against targets, and utilizing drone technology and manual survey equipment to verify conformance with final reclamation designs and post-mining topography.
Beyond planning, you will play a hands-on role in quality control, assisting with soil respread activities and maintaining inventory records. Regular field visits will allow you to observe operations, verify compliance with designs, and gain practical project experience. You will also support the preparation of progress reports, tracking production metrics and documenting field observations to keep stakeholders informed.
This position operates in both office and active mine site environments. You will be expected to work in compliance with all safety and environmental standards, which may include occasional evening or weekend work and offsite travel. Personal protective equipment (PPE), such as hard hats, safety glasses, and steel-toe boots, is required when working in mine, outdoor, or plant settings. The role demands mobility to travel as needed and the ability to perform tasks ranging from prolonged data entry to occasional physical activities like lifting materials up to 30 pounds.
