Founded in 1846, The Associated Press is an independent global news organization dedicated to factual reporting. Today, AP remains the most trusted source of fast, accurate, unbiased news in all formats and the essential provider of the technology and services vital to the news business. More than half the world's population sees AP journalism every day.
APNews.com seeks an Engagement Editor to join our growing team of diverse journalists focused on digital audiences. This is an individually contributing role that will report directly to our News Editor. We are looking for a journalist with curiosity, drive, and creativity; someone who has a rich understanding of how news travels on site, social, search, newsletters, and other platforms.
The successful candidate is a digital native who knows how to make a good headline great, has their finger on the pulse of the social conversation, and can make data-informed news decisions. You will collaborate with and complement the expertise of AP journalists around the world, applying innovative, audience-focused approaches while upholding AP's standards for accuracy, independence, and objectivity.
Employees near an AP office would be expected to be in office on a hybrid basis. This role supports a 24/7 global news operation, requiring flexibility for nontraditional schedules, including weekends and late-breaking coverage hours.
We offer a mission-driven, inclusive environment focused on both individual and collective success. The role provides opportunities for professional development to help you reach your career goals, along with access to tools, mentorship, and resources tailored to elevate your proficiency and contributions.
Application deadline is June 15 at 11:59 p.m. ET.
AP seeks to build an inclusive organization grounded in respect for differences. We support all aspects of diversity and provide equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants without regard to race, color, religion, sex, marital status, national origin, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, status as a veteran, or other characteristic protected by law.
