National Railroad Safety Services, Inc. (NRSS) is a certified DBE/WBE firm and the most trusted name in the railroad industry for providing qualified field safety staff and safety training. We serve the continental United States, Canada, and Mexico, delivering proven safety records for Class 1 Railroads, Regional Short Lines, Transit Systems, State DOTs, and various contractors.
Safety is our way of life. At NRSS, no job is so important and no service is so urgent that we may not take time to perform all work safely. By placing safety first, we ensure the wellbeing of our employees, customers, and communities while maintaining our leadership in the railroad industry.
We are seeking a Roadway Worker In Charge (EIC/RWIC) to support railroad flagging services across a diverse range of clients, including Class 1 Railroads, Regional Short Lines, Transit Systems, and State DOTs. This role is critical for maintaining operational safety and compliance in the field.
As an EIC, you will serve as the primary point of contact for jobsite coordination, ensuring clear communication between dispatchers, train crews, and contractor personnel. Your day-to-day involves conducting thorough job briefings, enforcing federal and state safety policies, and managing on-track safety in strict accordance with 49 CFR 214 regulations. You will navigate complex rulebooks, identify rule violations, and resolve issues to maintain a safe working environment.
This position requires significant adaptability and travel, with an average of 50% to 85% travel expected. You may be required to travel for extended periods, sometimes lasting months at a time, to support projects across the continent. Success in this role demands high-level accuracy, strong technical knowledge of railroad engineering and construction, and the ability to perform essential functions in a demanding field environment, including exposure to extreme temperatures and noisy conditions.
Candidates selected for this position must successfully pass pre-employment and recurrent background checks, drug and alcohol testing, and complete specific classroom training. Compensation is negotiable based on skills and experience.
National Railroad Safety Services, Inc. is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer. We consider qualified applicants regardless of background.
