About the Role
As an Emergency Psychiatrist, you will practice in a high-acuity, fast-paced emergency setting, working at the top of your license. This role is designed for experienced psychiatrists seeking clinical impact, autonomy, and long-term career growth. You will conduct psychiatric evaluations, provide crisis intervention and stabilization, and collaborate closely with emergency medicine teams on treatment planning. The position offers the flexibility to engage in academic medicine through teaching and mentoring opportunities while coordinating admissions, discharges, and referrals.
Compensation and Benefits
Carilion Clinic has invested in emergency psychiatry with a newly enhanced compensation structure designed to recognize the pace and specialized clinical judgment required in the emergency department. This includes an ED physician-aligned base hourly rate, substantial shift differentials for weekend and weeknight coverage, and a flexible practice model that may include virtual telepsychiatry with additional incentives for in-person emergency department coverage.
