About the Team
The Department of Emergency Medicine provides acute episodic care to more than 350,000 patients annually across seven emergency departments. We boast the highest number of board-certified Emergency physicians and subspecialty fellowship-trained Emergency Physicians in the state. Our department includes the Upstate's only Emergency Medicine residency program (PGY 1-3), which is the third-largest residency program in the institution. The Division of Prehospital and Disaster Medicine consists of seven board-certified EMS physicians who provide medical oversight to rural, suburban, and urban locations, supporting over 13 entities and prehospital educational programs throughout the Upstate.
About the Role
This hybrid opportunity combines academic leadership with clinical practice within the Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine Greenville. As the Academic Community Hybrid Emergency Medicine and EMS Medical Director, you will provide regional leadership for ground and air EMS systems, educate ground and air agencies, and lead local, regional, and state disaster medicine and preparedness activities. Your day-to-day will involve supporting major regional events, such as collegiate football and road races, while contributing to a vibrant academic environment that includes dedicated divisions in emergency psychiatry, medical education, pediatric emergency medicine, and more.
