Albemarle County Public Schools (ACPS) is a dynamic and diverse community dedicated to ensuring every student succeeds. We are the first public school division in Virginia, and among the first in the country, to implement an Anti-Racism policy. Our mission is to end the predictive value of race, class, gender, and special capacities for children's success by eliminating inequitable practices and closing achievement gaps.
We work together as a team to build relationships with families and communities, ensuring that "all" truly means all. Our goal is to create school communities that share the responsibility to recognize and end racism, while supporting the unique gifts, talents, and interests of every child.
As an Elementary Teacher (K-2nd) for the 2026-27 school year at Hollymead Elementary, you will join a team of educators committed to providing authentic, challenging, and relevant learning experiences. You will be part of a culture that values innovation, self-reflection, and collaboration.
In this role, you will engage with our Culturally Responsive Teaching model to support our Equity Mission Statement. You will be expected to be a lifelong learner, continually growing and improving your instructional practices. The position offers a supportive environment where you can develop professionally through strong mentorship from building administrators, instructional coaches, and equity specialists.
Educators choose ACPS for its close-knit, supportive community and its commitment to professional growth. We offer a wide range of professional development opportunities, including our New Teacher Academy, designed to help both new and experienced teachers thrive. Located in the shadow of the Blue Ridge Mountains and Shenandoah National Park, our division sits around Charlottesville, Virginia—a top-ranked university town known for its vibrant arts, food, and culture scene. It offers a unique blend of small-town living with a big-city feel, just a short trip from Washington, DC, Richmond, and the Atlantic beaches.
