The City of Colorado Springs is seeking an Electronic Specialist to join the Airport IT & Phones team. This role is critical to maintaining the operational integrity of the Colorado Springs Airport, ensuring that complex electronic systems supporting security, communications, and airfield operations function reliably for millions of travelers.
As an Electronic Specialist, you will serve as the technical backbone for a diverse array of critical infrastructure. Your day-to-day work involves the installation, upgrade, maintenance, and calibration of systems ranging from physical access controls and IP-based CCTV to airfield lighting controls, fiber optic communications, and automated vehicle identification (AVI) systems. You will also manage public address systems, fuel dispensing safety mechanisms, and passenger boarding bridges.
This position requires a blend of hands-on technical skill and proactive problem-solving. You will interpret engineering plans and schematics to troubleshoot and repair electronic, electrical-mechanical, and optical equipment. Beyond repairs, you will maintain detailed inspection and status logs, conduct routine service checks, and provide demonstrations on the safe operation of equipment to airport staff. The role demands flexibility, as you must be available for emergency callouts on a rotating basis to address urgent system failures.

Possess, or obtain upon hire, and maintain a valid, non-probationary Colorado driver's license not subject to restrictions. Associate degree in electronics, successful completion of electronic trade school, or certification as an electronics technician. Two years of full-time experience in the installation, maintenance, or repair of various commercial or industrial electronics systems (i.e. access control/security systems, CCTV, fiber optic systems, public address/paging systems, AVI systems, airport or airfield electronic control systems, telemetry or monitoring systems, telephony systems, and/or radio communications).
