As an Electronic Image Technician at Bell Hospital, you will serve as a vital support resource within the Radiology Imaging Center. Your primary mission is to assist all customers with image-related functions across all locations, ensuring the seamless flow of patient data and imaging services. You will act as a bridge between clinical staff, physicians, and patients, facilitating the timely and accurate management of electronic folders, physical radiology jackets, and complex imaging data.
In this role, you will be the go-to resource for the radiologist and other medical staff, supporting their duties through the effective use of both electronic and manual modalities. From providing PACS web support for surgical conferences to offering on-site assistance in the operating room, your work ensures that critical imaging information is available exactly when and where it is needed. You will maintain a patient-centered focus, upholding the hospital's mission and values by treating every patient and staff member with courtesy, dignity, and respect.
Your day will involve a dynamic mix of technical management and customer service. You will retrieve and create patient records, accessing reports and exam data through systems like Novius, SMS, Epic, and PACS. A significant portion of your time will be dedicated to the secure handling of patient information, ensuring strict compliance with HIPAA regulations while managing release of information requests and scanning documents into the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
You will also manage the lifecycle of imaging media, from receiving external films and CDs to purging records according to retention policies. This includes digitizing images, creating new orders in EPIC, and ensuring accurate identification of patient data within the PACS system. Additionally, you will troubleshoot hardware and software deficiencies to meet established turnaround times for exam availability and may be called upon to act as a custodian of imaging records for legal requests or court proceedings.
