The IEC Apprenticeship Technical Instructor serves as a vital bridge between the IEC National Curriculum and the next generation of electrical professionals. This part-time position, scheduled for two days per week from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM, is dedicated to delivering comprehensive training to students within the Atlanta & Georgia Chapter Apprenticeship Training Program.
The role goes beyond simple instruction; it involves providing technical support, supervision, and direction to foster a motivating learning environment. Instructors utilize a diverse mix of teaching methods, including lectures, hands-on practice, and student-led presentations, to ensure apprentices master essential skills. A key part of the day-to-day involves developing detailed lesson plans, enforcing strict electrical safety procedures (such as lockout/tagout and eye protection), and maintaining classroom order through fair and consistent discipline.
Beyond the classroom, instructors are expected to support students with extra help outside of scheduled hours, manage administrative tasks like grade submissions, and actively participate in monthly and annual instructor meetings. The goal is to build the skills necessary for students to resolve disagreements diplomatically while upholding the safety and credibility of the IEC Apprenticeship program.
