This 12-month position serves as a Staff Electrical Designer based in Greenville, SC, operating under the direct supervision of a Discipline Lead Engineer or Design Supervisor. The role is designed for an intermediate-level professional who will perform essential technical knowledge and design work involving intermediate complexity assignments.
You will be responsible for preparing and checking designs using 3D modeling and 2D Computer-Aided Drafting and Design (CADD) automation tools. A key part of your day involves coordinating technical issues across various disciplines, including project management, vendors, and clients. You will execute work in strict compliance with the Project Quality Plan, ensuring adherence to approved project scope, cost, and schedule baselines.
The position requires active engagement in the full project lifecycle, from providing technical support for equipment and material procurement (including vendor submittal reviews) to assisting with construction administration by responding to requests-for-information and managing field changes. You will also perform bulk material take-off analysis and tabulations, as well as advanced and intermediate design calculations for lighting, raceway sizing, wire sizing, voltage drop, and panel board configurations.
A unique aspect of this role is the opportunity to walk down field systems with minimal guidance. You will interpret field direction to generate minor design details, create new drawings, and modify existing ones. Additionally, you may be tasked with directing junior drafters, fostering a collaborative environment where technical expertise is shared to ensure project success.
Candidates must be U.S. Citizens with an Associate degree in a related technical field and a minimum of ten years of work-related experience. The ideal candidate possesses a working knowledge of applicable federal (including Department of Energy orders), state, and local codes and standards. Proficiency in Computer-Aided Design (CAD), specifically Bentley MicroStation, and 3D modeling using Intergraph Smart3D (S3D) is required.
Experience providing Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) services on industrial projects is essential. Background in electrical, instrumentation and control, or communications fields is necessary. Preferred qualifications include experience with nuclear facilities under ASME NQA-1 requirements, knowledge of commercial material costs, and advanced knowledge of Intergraph SmartPlant Electrical and Review software.
Interested candidates should submit their application detailing their experience with EPC projects and specific CAD proficiencies. This role is part of a team dedicated to maintaining high standards in industrial and federal government projects.
