This long-term position serves as a critical link between plant engineering, maintenance, and construction projects. The I&E CAD Designer is responsible for translating complex plant conditions and engineering concepts into precise technical documentation. The role exists to ensure that one-lines, wiring schematics, instrument loop diagrams, and P&IDs accurately reflect the physical reality of the facility, supporting both new construction and ongoing operational modifications.
You will work closely with plant engineering and maintenance personnel to create, modify, and review essential drawings. Your day involves interpreting engineer's markups on Piping and Instrument Diagrams, Equipment Drawings, and Safety Flow Drawings, often incorporating client CAD standards. While much of the work is task-oriented and performed independently with minimum supervision, the role requires the flexibility to switch priorities and projects to meet changing plant conditions.
The work extends beyond the desk; the role requires climbing 20-30 ft enclosed ladders and working from scaffolds to gather data and verify site conditions. You will prepare various views, sectional profiles, and intricate details for construction projects, utilizing conventional drafting and CAD techniques. Revisions may range from simple updates based on verbal explanations to complex changes derived from sketches, computer models, or specifications.
This is a long-term opportunity with no defined end date, based in Tyler, Texas. Local candidates are preferred, or those willing to relocate at their own expense. Please note that this position does not offer a per diem.
This role is open to candidates with a high school diploma and at least three years of Computer Aided Drafting experience. Proficiency in AutoCAD and a working knowledge of P&IDs, piping components, and electrical/mechanical symbols are essential. Interested candidates should apply directly with their experience and qualifications.
We are an equal opportunity employer committed to building a diverse and inclusive workforce.
