The Editorial Assistant serves as a vital front-line contact for the Editorial Trade NY team, providing essential administrative support to the Editorial Director and select senior editors. This role is designed to offer a comprehensive understanding of the publishing business while ensuring the smooth operation of the Hanover Square publishing program.
In this position, you will act as the primary interface for the department, positively portraying the company to external sources. You will manage the initial screening of manuscripts and query letters, maintaining rigorous tracking of all incoming submissions to ensure complete status awareness. Your day-to-day responsibilities include liaising with authors and agents, preparing book-related sales materials, and handling contract processing. Additionally, you will contribute to the imprint's social media presence and manage various logistical tasks, from travel arrangements to ordering departmental supplies.
