The Home Visitor serves as a vital bridge between families and the Ada S. McKinley community, delivering essential child development and parent involvement services directly within the home. Guided by Head Start Performance Standards, this role is dedicated to fostering the growth of infants and toddlers while empowering parents with the knowledge and skills needed to guide their children's learning experiences.
In this position, you will move beyond traditional classroom settings to provide personalized support in the environments where families live. Your day involves conducting weekly 90-minute home visits, facilitating socialization groups, and offering prenatal education to expectant mothers. You will partner closely with parents to develop individualized development plans and Family Partnership Agreements, ensuring that every family has a clear path toward their goals. As a liaison and advocate, you will connect families with community resources, monitor health and nutritional status, and coordinate necessary screenings and assessments.
This role requires a deep commitment to serving families in high-risk communities. You will work primarily in the homes of families residing in these areas, requiring flexibility with your schedule and a willingness to travel. Success in this position depends on your ability to build empathic, non-judgmental relationships and to mobilize resources that help families address the challenges they face.
