Our Head Start Program

Our Head Start program creates an environment where participants can learn, grow, and thrive. We emphasize parents as primary teachers and foster a cooperative environment connecting families, teachers, family advocates, home visitors, and staff. Our approach prioritizes connection to community resources and learning through child-led play. The program is designed to meet the unique needs of all eligible children, including those with special needs and disabilities, providing essential school readiness skills to strengthen our community's children and families for life.

About the Role

As an Assistant Teacher in our Ages 0-3 classroom, you will collaborate closely with the teaching team to support students' learning and healthy development under the direction of the Head Teacher. This role is integral to fostering a positive classroom climate by utilizing Positive Behavioral Interventions and Support (PBIS) strategies for effective classroom management. You will lead various small group activities daily and step in to lead the classroom when the Head Teacher is on break. Your work will support the effective implementation of Creative Curriculum activities while adhering to Oregon Department of Early Learning and Care licensing requirements and Head Start Performance Standards.

Hiring Process

Candidates selected for an interview will be contacted directly by the hiring team. Please note that this position requires successful completion of a pre-employment physical exam and TB test prior to the start date. Upon hiring, you will be required to obtain Adult and Pediatric CPR & First Aid Certification and a Food Handlers Card within 30 days.

Requirements
