The Early Childhood Teacher is dedicated to developing and implementing engaging activities and lesson plans for children aged 3-5. This position is designed to work in close collaboration with a partnering Special Education Teacher, ensuring a cohesive approach to child development. Together, the teaching team plans, organizes, and manages daily classroom activities that are safe, developmentally appropriate, and compliant with all relevant legislation and policies.
The role focuses on meeting the physical, emotional, intellectual, and social needs of the children. Teachers will introduce math and literacy concepts while fostering cooperative play and learning. A key aspect of the position involves maintaining a clean and safe facility, assisting students with daily living routines such as meal times and toileting, and communicating progress positively with parents and the broader student team.
This position offers opportunities for professional development through introductory and ongoing learning activities approved by the supervisor. Teachers are expected to participate in agency, faculty, and student meetings, including weekly classroom meetings where agendas are reviewed in conjunction with the special education partner. The role requires a commitment to positive discipline and the development of Good Working Strategies to support student behavior and learning across environments.
