The Driver Assistant DEA serves as a critical support partner to the Environmental Driver Specialist, ensuring the secure and compliant handling of DEA-regulated waste. This position acts as an official witness during the packaging, videotaping, and destruction of controlled substances at customer locations. Beyond witnessing duties, the Assistant plays a versatile role in the logistics chain, assisting with waste segregation, inventory management, and warehouse operations to maintain operational efficiency.
Your day typically begins by loading containers and necessary supplies onto the truck for daily service stops. You will ride along with a CDL Driver, assisting with duties at various stops and ensuring all safety protocols are followed. A core part of your responsibility involves video recording the destruction process of DEA controlled substances and uploading the footage to the employer's system. You will also handle legible, accurate, and timely paperwork while maintaining regular contact with external customers and internal personnel.
The role requires flexibility, including driving non-DOT regulated vehicles to customer sites as needed and potentially traveling up to 50% overnight based on assigned routes. You will work closely with the team to manage the storage of hazardous materials in strict accordance with regulations and policies, ensuring a safe environment for all operations.
