About the Role

We are seeking a Pediatric Emergency Medicine Division Chief to teach and practice within the Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine Greenville. This role is pivotal in shaping the future of our Emergency Medicine Residency Program and developing a robust Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine. The successful candidate will contribute significantly to the academic output of both the Division and the Department.

You will join a department that provides episodic care to more than 450,000 patients annually across seven emergency departments. Our team boasts the highest number of board-certified Emergency physicians and subspecialty fellowship-trained Emergency Physicians in the state. The pediatric emergency department is currently staffed by Board-certified EM, Peds/EM, and fellowship-trained PEM physicians, ensuring a high standard of care for our community.

The Environment

This position is situated within a comprehensive healthcare ecosystem that includes a Level 1 Trauma Center and a Level II Pediatric Trauma Center. The Children's Hospital features a dedicated Pediatric Emergency Department, a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, and a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. The department also houses a dedicated Division of Emergency Psychiatry with Child/Adolescent trained faculty and supports regional ground and air EMS systems. Additionally, we offer Advanced Emergency Ultrasound and Medical Education, Technology, and Design Fellowships.
