About the Role
As the Director of Product Management for our Next Gen Platform, you will lead and execute the product vision for our next-generation issuance and processing platform. This role focuses on platform modernization, service abstraction, and scalability while supporting the growth of our new and existing customers. You will lead a team that cuts across core components of our platform, including issuing, fulfillment, processing, ledger, tokenization, and customer onboarding and enablement.
This position bridges strategy, delivery, and operational excellence to ensure we continuously deliver customer value and exceptional platform performance. You will shape the strategic direction of Marqeta's core platform, directly influencing how over $300B in annual transaction volume flows through our systems. Your work will enable the company to move faster and with confidence by building resilient systems, intuitive tooling, and clear operating models across product and support.
Work Environment
Marqeta is a "Flex First" company. This role can be performed remotely anywhere within the United States or from our Oakland office. We calibrate pay to a competitive value according to your working location, with tiers ranging from National to Premium Plus based on cost of living. Requirements

- verifiedFamiliarity with APIs, cloud services, distributed systems, and modern production support practices
- verifiedProficiency in identifying key metrics, analyzing data, and balancing quantitative and qualitative information
- verifiedExcellent technical acumen with familiarity in programming languages and databases

Nice to Have
Managing technical products (SaaS platform services, API/SDK product). Understanding of payment industry ecosystem (card brand regulations, ISO 8583, EMV, digital wallets, gateway services). Experience implementing solutions processing 100M+ transactions per day. Building Fintech products or creating incredible developer experience. Knowledge of reconciliation systems and money movement. Familiarity with HSMs and key management. Experience with Agile software development methodologies.
