The Director, Operations serves as the strategic leader for the safe, reliable, and profitable operation of multiple power generation facilities. Reporting to the Senior Vice President of Operations, this role operates with a high degree of independence within a complex operational and regulatory environment. The position is pivotal in bridging technical execution with business strategy, ensuring that facility performance aligns with long-term company goals while maintaining rigorous safety and environmental standards.
This role exists to drive continuous improvement across plant safety, reliability, efficiency, and profitability. The Director will not only oversee daily operations, maintenance, and engineering functions but also act as a key liaison with regulators, government agencies, and the local community. Success in this position requires balancing hands-on technical support with high-level decision-making, particularly during critical events such as plant outages, asset transitions, or major system upgrades.
In this position, you will lead a diverse team of plant staff, fostering a culture of development and alignment with industry best practices. Your day will involve managing the full lifecycle of facility operations, from budgeting and forecasting to administering complex O&M agreements, PPAs, and utility contracts. You will be responsible for planning and overseeing plant outages to optimize production and cost performance, while simultaneously evaluating equipment issues and coordinating external resources.
Beyond internal management, you will serve as the primary interface for external stakeholders. This includes navigating regulatory requirements, managing permitting and reporting obligations, and promoting positive community engagement. You will also lead risk assessments and apply market knowledge to inform operational decisions, ensuring the organization remains agile in the face of changing industry dynamics.

MBA or strong experience with the business and commercial aspects of independent power producers. Demonstrated expertise in environmental compliance, budgeting and cost control, contract administration, and organizational development. Proven ability to develop innovative solutions to technical, operational, and business challenges. Strong leadership, communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical audiences.
