Utah Transit Authority (UTA) is dedicated to providing safe, reliable, and efficient transportation solutions across the region. As a public agency, UTA serves a growing community by connecting people to jobs, education, and essential services through an integrated network of rail, bus, and paratransit systems. The organization is committed to sustainability, innovation, and maintaining a positive corporate image through the successful delivery of capital projects that enhance ridership and community well-being.
The Director of Capital Design and Construction serves as a strategic leader within UTA's executive team, overseeing the lifecycle of major capital and State of Good Repair (SGR) construction programs. This role exists to ensure that mass transit infrastructure is delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality and safety.
In this position, you will partner with the Chief Capital Services Officer and other executives to drive new ridership initiatives and revenue opportunities. Your day-to-day involves navigating complex stakeholder landscapes, from government agencies responsible for permitting and funding to community groups and internal teams. You will be responsible for developing strategic programs that align with UTA's philosophy of constructing mass transit services, while coordinating the allocation of resources across multiple concurrent projects.
Success in this role requires a blend of managerial courage and business acumen. You will lead the design, construction, commissioning, and quality control processes, often making high-stakes decisions in the face of uncertainty. By building strong networks among all UTA stakeholders, you will help shape short- and long-term programs that secure necessary resources and funding, ensuring the continued growth and reliability of Utah's transit system.
Interested candidates are invited to apply online before Monday, May 18th, 2026, at 11:59 PM. The application process is designed to identify leaders who can effectively manage complex transportation projects and drive organizational results.
