Comic Relief uses the power of comedy to fight childhood poverty. We do this by changing the stories that keep childhood poverty invisible and misunderstood, engaging people and communities to take action, and resourcing local nonprofits doing the work on the ground. To date, we've helped more than 50 million children and families live healthier, safer, and more empowered lives.
Our core values—Innovative, Collaborative, Inclusive, Respectful, and Impact-Driven—serve as the foundation of who we are. We affirm human diversity in all forms, encompassing ethnicity, race, gender, sexual orientation, age, abilities, and philosophies. We are dedicated to ensuring our leadership, staff, and partners respect, reflect, and value these differences.
We are looking for a Director of Marketing to lead the strategy and execution that brings this mission to more people. This is a senior, hands-on role responsible for building awareness, growing audiences, and driving engagement and fundraising across campaigns, content, live comedy events, and local activations.
Reporting to the Chief Creative Officer, you will translate Comic Relief's impact strategy into a clear, cohesive marketing engine—one that harnesses comedy, culture, and creativity to reach new audiences and mobilize them in the fight against childhood poverty. This is not a traditional nonprofit marketing role; you will help define and deliver a new impact model that harnesses the full power of comedy, culture, and capital to tackle childhood poverty.
You will be building the marketing engine behind that ambition. The role requires someone who can operate across the full spectrum—from setting strategy to hands-on execution—with experience spanning commercial entertainment marketing and nonprofit or advocacy-driven work. You will be equally comfortable building a long-term growth plan and troubleshooting a live campaign in real time.
Candidates should be based in the NY metro area. We are a hybrid organization and work three days per week in our downtown New York City office.
Comic Relief's commitment to inclusion is critical to fulfilling our vision, mission, and goals. As members of a diverse global community, we each bring unique attributes and perspectives to our work, enhancing our abilities to reach, engage, and serve marginalized children. Our colleagues and those we serve come from diverse backgrounds, geographies, and economic circumstances, with a wide range of cultures, customs, and languages.
We affirm human diversity in all forms, encompassing ethnicity, race, gender, sexual orientation and identification, age, abilities, and philosophies. We are dedicated to ensuring our leadership, staff, and partners respect, reflect, and value these differences and work to ensure these values are expressed in our communications, content, and brand expression.
