About the Role
The Director of External Affairs serves as a primary advocate for CHRISTUS Health, a Catholic, faith-based, not-for-profit health system. This leadership position is pivotal in developing and executing the organization's external communications strategy, encompassing public relations, media relations, crisis communications, social media, foundation communications, and community engagement.
In this role, you will provide strategic guidance to regional and ministry operations, ensuring that all external messaging aligns with the "One CHRISTUS" initiative and the system's core mission. You will partner closely with the Internal Communications Leader to guarantee consistent messaging across all stakeholders while advancing a system-wide brand communications strategy.
Your day-to-day involves maintaining positive relationships with media, community leaders, patients, and other influencers to safeguard and enhance the CHRISTUS Health reputation. You will act as a key strategic advisor to system leaders, translating complex developments into clear, consistent narratives that support direction setting and brand protection. Additionally, you will collaborate with the Risk Management team to implement an organized Crisis Communications program, serving as the designated Public Information Officer when necessary.
