This position is dedicated to ensuring the safety, health, and comfort of individuals with developmental disabilities or traumatic brain injuries. The role serves as a vital link in the care continuum, providing close supervision in strict accordance with individualized treatment plans. Whether managing daily routines, facilitating transport, or participating in care planning, the primary mission is to create a supportive and secure environment for every individual under care.
Your day involves a dynamic mix of direct care and administrative responsibilities. You will provide continuous supervision, particularly for individuals on 1:1 status, and ensure their personal belongings are kept neat and orderly. A significant portion of the role involves transporting individuals safely and comfortably, adhering to all New York State laws and agency procedures. This includes maintaining vehicle logs, managing the driving environment (such as temperature and music levels), and communicating vehicle conditions to management.
Beyond direct care, you will actively participate in program planning meetings and review Annual and Semi-Annual Treatment Plans. You are also responsible for maintaining the physical plant and agency property in a clean and safe manner, promptly reporting any issues to management. The role requires strict compliance with OPWDD regulations and agency procedures, including obtaining and maintaining SCIP-R and AMAP certifications, and attending all mandatory staff meetings, in-services, and trainings.
Candidates must successfully pass a background clearance check through the State Central Register and comply with health regulations, including a physical examination and Mantoux test. Successful applicants will be expected to obtain and maintain all necessary certifications, including SCIP-R and AMAP, and demonstrate competency in all required training areas.
We are committed to providing a supportive environment for all individuals. While experience working with people with developmental disabilities or traumatic brain injuries is preferred, we welcome applicants from diverse backgrounds who are dedicated to making a positive impact in the lives of others.
