The Healthy Food Center Dietetic Technician serves as a vital bridge for patients facing food insecurity, connecting them with nutritionally balanced food resources through the Healthy Food Center. This role goes beyond simple distribution; it involves providing comprehensive information and referrals to food assistance and social service programs to address the holistic needs of patients.
In this position, you will provide excellent service by counseling patients on appropriate food choices that align with their medical, social, and behavioral diagnoses. You will stay current on food assistance information to ensure patients receive the most up-to-date support available.
You will be part of Allegheny Health Network, an organization dedicated to improving community health. This role supports the broader mission of addressing social determinants of health by ensuring patients have access to the nutrition they need to recover and thrive. The position also involves supporting the Healthy Food Center Garden and participating in community events to foster a culture of wellness and community engagement.
Candidates must possess the required clearances, including Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance, Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance, and Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance. For those eligible, ADA registration as a Registered Dietetic Technician is required, or eligibility to complete the ADA registration exam within six months of the start date.
