The Dietary Aide plays a vital support role within our facility, working under the direction of the Certified Dietary Manager to ensure residents receive properly prepared and served meals. This position is essential for maintaining a safe, hygienic, and welcoming dining environment in compliance with state guidelines and federal regulations.
Your day will involve a dynamic mix of food preparation, service, and sanitation duties. You will assist in cooking and beverage preparation while adhering to universal precautions. During meal times, you will set up and pass trays to residents, ensuring they are served with care. Following meals, the focus shifts to maintaining a clean environment, which includes bussing tables, cleaning kitchen work areas, and dishwashing. You will also be responsible for stocking snack carts and following strict handwashing guidelines to uphold health standards. Occasionally, you may be assigned special projects by the Certified Dietary Manager or Executive Director.
This role requires a significant amount of physical activity. Employees must be capable of standing, walking, sitting, and speaking throughout the shift. The position frequently involves lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling items ranging from 1 to over 50 lbs. Daily tasks may also require sliding or transferring objects, balancing, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, and turning or twisting. Driving may be required as part of the duties. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions.
To be considered for this role, candidates must possess a valid Texas Food Handler Certificate. A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred, as is prior experience working in a commercial kitchen.
