Interstate Waste Services (IWS) stands as the most progressive and innovative provider of solid waste and recycling services across the greater New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut markets, featuring a rail-served landfill in Ohio. Since our founding in 1998, we have grown through strategic acquisitions, many of which were family-owned businesses that remain integral parts of our team today. This unique evolution allows us to combine the robust resources of a large corporation with the enduring values and care of a family-run business.
We are committed to delivering high-quality waste, recycling, and environmental services while prioritizing the safety of our employees, customers, and communities. Our diverse client base includes industrial, medical, and commercial/residential sectors.
This position serves as a vital support pillar within our maintenance operations, bridging the gap between drivers and our technical teams. You will be the first line of defense in vehicle safety, assisting drivers with daily post-trip and vehicle safety inspections to ensure every truck is road-ready. Your role involves conducting thorough safety checks during safety lanes and preventative maintenance (PM) sessions, identifying visible issues such as leaks, body damage, or light failures before they become major problems.
Day-to-day, you will work alongside A & B technicians to support the repair and maintenance of heavy-duty and light-duty trucks, including rear load, front load, roll-off, grapple, and porta-potty units. You will help manage fluid top-ups, perform lubrication tasks according to scheduled charts, and assist with basic repairs on engines, transmissions, brakes, and electrical systems. Effective communication is key; you will collaborate with drivers and technicians to discuss vehicle issues and preventative techniques that minimize future repairs. Maintaining a clean, safe, and organized shop environment in compliance with OSHA standards is also a core part of your daily responsibilities.
Candidates selected for an interview will be expected to participate in corporation-sponsored training courses as assigned. We are committed to a fair and accessible process; reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
Interstate Waste Services provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment. We prohibit discrimination and harassment of any type without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state, or local laws.
