Interstate Waste Services (IWS) stands as the most progressive and innovative provider of solid waste and recycling services across the greater New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut markets, featuring a rail-served landfill in Ohio. Since our founding in 1998, we have grown through strategic acquisitions, many of which were family-owned businesses that remain integral to our team today. This unique evolution allows us to combine the robust resources of a large corporation with the enduring values and care of a family-run business.
We are committed to delivering high-quality waste, recycling, and environmental services while prioritizing the safety of our employees, customers, and communities. Our diverse client base includes industrial, medical, and commercial/residential sectors.
This position serves as a vital support pillar for our maintenance operations, bridging the gap between drivers and technicians. You will be instrumental in ensuring the reliability and safety of our heavy-duty and light-duty fleet, including gasoline, diesel, and CNG systems. Your day will involve active collaboration with drivers to complete daily post-trip and vehicle safety inspections, ensuring every vehicle is road-ready.
Beyond inspections, you will perform essential preventative maintenance tasks such as lubrication, fluid top-ups, and tire pressure adjustments. You will assist technicians in diagnosing and repairing components ranging from lights and mirrors to complex engine, transmission, and hydraulic systems. The role requires a hands-on approach, utilizing factory service manuals to conduct repairs on various truck types, including rear load, front load, roll-off, and grapple vehicles. Maintaining a clean, safe, and OSHA-compliant work environment is a core part of your daily responsibilities, ensuring that the shop and grounds remain organized and hazard-free.
Candidates selected for an interview will be evaluated on their practical knowledge of heavy-duty equipment and their commitment to safety. The process typically includes a review of technical capabilities and a discussion of your approach to preventative maintenance and team collaboration. Successful candidates will be expected to participate in corporation-sponsored training courses to stay current with technology and safety protocols.
