Founded in 1998, Interstate Waste Services (IWS) has grown to become the most progressive and innovative provider of solid waste and recycling services in the greater New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut markets, featuring a rail-served landfill in Ohio. We proudly combine the resources of a large company with the values and care of a family-run business, having acquired many family-owned operations that remain integral parts of our team today.
IWS is committed to delivering high-quality waste, recycling, and environmental services while prioritizing the safety of our employees, customers, and communities. We cater to a diverse range of industrial, medical, and commercial/residential customers.
This position serves as a vital support pillar for our maintenance operations, bridging the gap between drivers and technicians. You will play an active role in ensuring the reliability and safety of our heavy and light-duty fleet, including rear load, front load, roll-off, grapple, and porta-potty trucks.
Your day will involve collaborating closely with drivers to complete daily post-trip and vehicle safety inspections, identifying visible issues such as leaks, body damage, or light failures. You will assist technicians in performing preventative maintenance, fluid top-ups, and basic repairs on engine, transmission, brake, suspension, and electrical systems. Beyond the mechanical work, you will maintain a clean and safe shop environment in compliance with OSHA standards and ensure all repair documentation and parts usage are recorded accurately and timely.
Interstate Waste Services provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment. We prohibit discrimination and harassment of any type without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state, or local laws.
