Interstate Waste Services (IWS) stands as the most progressive and innovative provider of solid waste and recycling services across the greater New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut markets, complemented by a rail-served landfill in Ohio. Since our founding in 1998, we have grown through strategic acquisitions, many of which were family-owned businesses that remain integral parts of our team today. This unique evolution allows us to combine the robust resources of a large corporation with the enduring values and care of a family-run business.
We are committed to delivering high-quality waste, recycling, and environmental services while prioritizing the safety of our employees, customers, and communities. Our diverse client base includes industrial, medical, and commercial/residential sectors.
This position serves as a vital support pillar within our maintenance operations, bridging the gap between drivers and our technical teams. The role is designed to ensure the reliability and safety of our heavy-duty and light-duty fleet, including gasoline, diesel, and CNG systems. You will be the first line of defense in vehicle safety, assisting drivers with daily post-trip and pre-trip inspections while conducting thorough safety checks during scheduled maintenance lanes.
Your day will involve performing essential preventative maintenance, such as lubrication, fluid top-ups, and tire inspections, while documenting all activities with precision. You will work closely with A & B technicians and drivers to identify visible repairs, discuss preventative techniques to minimize future issues, and support complex repairs on various equipment types, including rear load, front load, roll-off, grapple, and porta-potty trucks. Maintaining a clean, safe, and OSHA-compliant work environment is a core part of your daily responsibilities.
Candidates selected for an interview will be expected to demonstrate their practical knowledge of vehicle maintenance and safety protocols. The process typically includes a review of qualifications followed by an on-site assessment to evaluate hands-on skills and fit within our safety-first culture.
