Interstate Waste Services (IWS) stands as the most progressive and innovative provider of solid waste and recycling services across the greater New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut markets, featuring a rail-served landfill in Ohio. Since our founding in 1998, we have grown through strategic acquisitions, many of which were family-owned businesses that remain integral parts of our team today. This unique evolution allows us to combine the robust resources of a large corporation with the enduring values and care of a family-run business.
We are committed to delivering high-quality waste, recycling, and environmental services while prioritizing the safety of our employees, customers, and communities. Our diverse client base includes industrial, medical, and commercial/residential sectors.
This position serves as a vital support pillar within our maintenance operations, bridging the gap between drivers and technicians. You will be instrumental in ensuring the reliability and safety of our heavy-duty and light-duty fleet, which includes rear load, front load, roll-off, grapple, and porta-potty trucks. Your day will involve active collaboration with drivers to complete post-trip and vehicle safety inspections, identifying visible issues such as leaks, body damage, or lighting failures before they become major problems.
Beyond inspection, you will play a hands-on role in preventative maintenance, performing lubrication, fluid top-ups, and tire inspections. You will assist A and B technicians with repairs on engines, transmissions, brakes, and electrical systems, utilizing factory service manuals to guide your work. A key part of your mission is fostering a culture of safety and communication, discussing preventative techniques with drivers to minimize future repairs and maintaining a clean, OSHA-compliant shop environment.
Candidates selected for this role will be expected to participate in corporation-sponsored training courses to stay current with technology and safety protocols. We are committed to providing reasonable accommodations to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
Interstate Waste Services provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment. We prohibit discrimination and harassment of any type without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state, or local laws. This policy applies to all terms and conditions of employment, including recruiting, hiring, promotion, and training.
