Interstate Waste Services (IWS) stands as the most progressive and innovative provider of solid waste and recycling services across the greater New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut markets, featuring a rail-served landfill in Ohio. Since our founding in 1998, we have grown through strategic acquisitions, many of which were family-owned businesses that remain integral parts of our team today. This unique evolution allows us to combine the robust resources of a large corporation with the enduring values and care of a family-run business.
We cater to a diverse range of industrial, medical, and commercial/residential customers. Our mission is deeply rooted in delivering high-quality waste, recycling, and environmental services while prioritizing the safety of our employees, customers, and communities.
This position serves as a vital support pillar within our maintenance operations, bridging the gap between drivers and senior technicians. You will be instrumental in ensuring the reliability of our heavy-duty and light-duty fleet, which includes rear load, front load, roll-off, grapple, and porta-potty trucks, as well as their chassis and bodies.
Your day will involve active collaboration with drivers to complete daily post-trip and vehicle safety inspections, identifying visible issues such as leaks, body damage, or light failures. You will perform essential preventative maintenance tasks, including lubrication, fluid top-ups, and tire inspections, utilizing factory service manuals and lubrication charts. Beyond hands-on repairs, you will document all work, parts usage, and time entries with precision, maintaining a clean and safe shop environment that complies with corporate and OSHA standards. This role requires physical stamina to navigate the shop and vehicle cabs frequently, often in varying weather conditions, while adhering to strict safety protocols and utilizing all mandated personal protective equipment.
Candidates selected for an interview will be expected to participate in corporation-sponsored training courses as assigned. We are committed to a fair and accessible process; reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the job. We encourage all applicants to stay current with relevant technologies and job-appropriate advancements.
Interstate Waste Services provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment. We prohibit discrimination and harassment of any type without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state, or local laws. This policy applies to all terms and conditions of employment, including recruiting, hiring, placement, promotion, termination, layoff, recall, transfer, leaves of absence, compensation, and training.
