Interstate Waste Services (IWS) stands as the most progressive and innovative provider of solid waste and recycling services across the greater New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut markets, complemented by a rail-served landfill in Ohio. Since our founding in 1998, we have grown through strategic acquisitions, many of which were family-owned businesses that remain integral to our team today. This unique evolution allows us to combine the robust resources of a large corporation with the enduring values and care of a family-run business.
Our mission is to deliver high-quality waste, recycling, and environmental services while prioritizing the safety of our employees, customers, and communities. We serve a diverse range of industrial, medical, and commercial/residential clients, fostering a culture where safety and dependability are paramount.
This position serves as a vital support pillar within our maintenance operations, bridging the gap between drivers and our technical teams. You will be instrumental in ensuring the reliability of our heavy-duty and light-duty fleet, which includes rear load, front load, roll-off, grapple, and porta-potty trucks, as well as their chassis and bodies.
Your day will involve active collaboration with drivers to complete daily post-trip and vehicle safety inspections, identifying visible issues such as leaks, body damage, or light failures. You will perform essential preventative maintenance tasks, including lubrication, fluid top-ups, and tire inspections, while assisting technicians with repairs on engines, transmissions, brakes, and electrical systems. Beyond the hands-on work, you will maintain a clean and safe shop environment compliant with OSHA standards and ensure accurate documentation of all parts usage and repair times.
Candidates selected for an interview will be expected to demonstrate their practical knowledge of vehicle maintenance and safety protocols. The process includes participation in corporation-sponsored training courses to ensure alignment with our safety and operational standards.
